Head of Engineering

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Head of Engineering to join our client's dynamic technology team. As the Head of Engineering, you will provide leadership for our client's engineering teams, focusing on the sportsbook products. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring timely and high-quality delivery across all engineering teams within this domain. Working closely with product counterparts, you will execute the roadmap while prioritising technical excellence in code quality, stability, scalability, and security.

Responsibilities:

As Head of Engineering, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Build and lead a high-performing engineering organisation comprising multiple teams, establishing effective strategies towards this objective.
• Support, mentor, and coach engineering managers and team leads.
• Collaborate with the architecture team to drive the technical vision and facilitate future-state architectural designs within the domain.
• Partner with product counterparts to develop, support, and execute product roadmaps and shared goals.
• Maintain a deep understanding of the gaming industry, conducting competitor analysis, and staying abreast of trends and emerging technologies.
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the team, advocating best practices in software engineering and agile methodologies.
• Drive initiative delivery across teams, maximising the potential of our client's workforce and project outcomes.
• Ensure platform reliability, security, and scalability by proactively addressing risks and performance bottlenecks.
• Manage engineering budgets, resources, and timelines effectively, ensuring project delivery within scope and deadlines.

Requirements:

• With 2 years or more in a senior or strategic engineering leadership role, you have a demonstrated track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• With over 10 years of experience in engineering roles, you possess a robust background in software engineering.
• Demonstrated ability in nurturing and coaching engineering leaders.
• Passion for technology and its role in driving business growth and user satisfaction.
• Comfort in complex technical environments, with hands-on experience in highly available and high-load transactional systems, focusing on performance, scalability, and security.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is advantageous.
• A humble and inspirational leader who sets an example and promotes a culture of ownership and collaboration.
• Relevant experience in the gaming industry.
• Experience managing remote or geographically distributed teams.
• Experience working with and managing third-party suppliers.
