Director of Compliance

About the client:
On behalf of our client, we’re seeking a Director of Compliance to join a leading iGaming company. This hybrid role, based in Malta, offers an exciting opportunity to drive and shape global compliance strategy.

Position Overview:
As the Director of Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in navigating regulatory frameworks across all jurisdictions. We seek a proactive compliance leader who balances regulatory adherence with strategic business growth, is adept at managing high-stakes regulatory relationships, and is confident in shaping the compliance landscape.

About You:
You are a seasoned compliance professional with 10–15 years of iGaming experience, covering both B2B and B2C environments. Your expertise includes a well-established network within regulatory and compliance circles, and you have been the decision-maker for market entry strategies, crafting and executing compliance roadmaps. In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements across various jurisdictions is essential.

Location: Hybrid / Remote – Malta
Working Arrangements: Typically two to three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities:

As Director of Compliance, your broad responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Regulatory Compliance:
• Lead all compliance activities with local and international regulatory authorities, covering both B2B and B2C licences and other compliance standards.
• Implement a balanced approach to compliance that aligns with business growth while upholding the highest regulatory standards.

Risk Management and Advisory:
• Monitor regulatory developments within the iGaming industry, advising leadership on risk management and compliance requirements.
• Provide strategic insights to align compliance initiatives with broader business goals, supporting sustainable growth.

Policy Development and Implementation:
• Oversee the creation, implementation, and enforcement of compliance policies to ensure they meet regulatory standards.

Licence Management:
• Lead the acquisition, renewal, and management of licences across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to all licensing obligations.

Regulatory Relationship Management:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory authorities, serving as the company’s key liaison and subject matter expert.
• Work with external legal counsel as needed to support audits or address complex compliance issues.

International Team Leadership:
• Manage and mentor a team of compliance professionals across different regions, fostering a proactive compliance culture and supporting continuous improvement.
• Implement automated solutions to streamline compliance processes, improving efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements:

• 10–15 years in the iGaming industry, with extensive knowledge of both B2B and B2C models.
• Established connections within regulatory bodies and compliance circles.
• Deep expertise in regulatory compliance within iGaming, with exposure to multiple jurisdictions.
• Proven experience leading and developing compliance teams.
• Fluent in English, with additional language proficiency considered an asset.
• Demonstrated experience as a primary decision-maker in market entry strategies and compliance roadmap development.
